Sat. So. Jersey Football: Woodbury’s defense sparkles in shutout over Lindenwold
Tyler Jenkins, Dyshawn Davis, and Brian Purnell spearheaded a stifling defensive effort as host Woodbury overwhelmed Lindenwold, 35-0, Saturday in Colonial Conference Patriot Division football.
Jenkins had a quarterback sack in recording 14 tackles, Davis had 10 tackles, blocked a punt, and forced a fumble, and Purnell intercepted a pair of passes, including one he took back for a score.
Purnell also threw a touchdown pass to complete the rout by the Thundering Herd (7-1 overall, 4-0 league), who can clinch their first outright division title since 1989 with a win at Gateway on Thanksgiving.
Lindenwold slipped to 2-6 overall and 2-3 in conference play.
