S. Jersey Boys: Haddon Twp. blanks Paulsboro

Haddon Township stands alone atop the Colonial Conference Patriot Division boys' soccer standings after a convincing 6-0 win over visiting Paulsboro yesterday.

The Hawks, which improved to 4-1 in the division, got goals from Joe Bernhardt, Jay Casey, Remy Goldtharp, Kevin Griese, Chris Murphy, and Nick Della Valle.

Also in the Colonial, Gateway handed host Audubon its first loss this fall, 2-0, making both teams' division records 3-1 and allowing Haddon Township to move ahead.

Gateway's Danny Pietroforte and John Tedrick scored a goal apiece, and goalie Josh Schmidt made nine saves in the Gators' fourth straight shutout.

Gateway has outscored its five opponents, 20-2, this season. Haddon Township is not far behind at 17-3.

Woodbury claimed a victory on the road at Lindenwold, 2-1, behind first-half goals from Robert McKinney and Michael Ulmer. Jaime Bonilla scored for the home team in the second half to trim the deficit, but Woodbury goaltender Zac Sharp made 12 saves to preserve the win.

John Hagerty deflected a corner kick from Andrew Gregory into the goal in the 59th minute to lift Haddon Heights, 1-0, over visiting Collingswood.

Burlington County. Patrick Rossi and Jackson DeSouza scored a goal apiece in the second half as Riverside rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit and defeated visiting Holy Cross, 2-1.

Brendan Reilly scored for Holy Cross, but Rossi tied the game in the 54th minute and DeSouza's goal sealed the lead and the victory in the 65th minute.

Jeff Crain scored two goals, including the game-winner in the 80th minute, as host Medford Tech won its first game of the season dramatic fashion, 3-2, over Westampton Tech.

Medford Tech's Dave Pryzbylkowski scored on a penalty kick to tie the game at 2-2 entering the half, setting the table for Crain's game-winner on an unassisted shot to the goal's lower left side.

Rancocas Valley rolled, 5-0, at Northern Burlington, behind two goals from Alec Golini. Juniors Tyler King and Dan Dwyer each scored their first varsity goals, and Manny Payton had a goal and two assists as Rancocas Valley improved to 4-1.

Florence salvaged a 2-1 win at home over Burlington City. Keith Griffin scored for Florence in the first half, and after Burlington City tied the game, T.J. Lovenduski assisted on a goal by Chris Green with less than two minutes to play for the win.

Rob Brown scored two goals to lead New Egypt past host Maple Shade, 4-1. Maple Shade goaltender Shane Beavers made 11 saves in a losing effort, while his team managed only seven shots of its own. New Egypt's John Parin added a goal and an assist in the victory, and goalie Dave Wenskoski made five saves.

Burlington Township and Bordentown played two halves and two overtimes with no goals, causing a scoreless tie. Bordentown goalie Tom Potts made 10 saves on his home field, and Burlington Township keeper Mike DiPaola made five as both keepers earned shutouts.

Willingboro exploded for four goals in the second half against visiting Trenton Catholic, earning a 5-2 win after the game was tied 1-1 at the half. Tre Callendar scored twice for Willingboro, and Archie Biawogee, Hassan Hatcher and Hamilton Klar each tallied once in the win.

Cape-Atlantic. St. Augustine's 2-0 victory over Atlantic City means the undefeated Hermits (5-0) have not surrendered a goal in three home games this season. Goaltender John Richards made six saves in St. Augustine's fourth shutout in five games overall, and Connor Hurff and Justin TenBrook both scored.

Brian Longo's first-half goal stood strong as Ocean City held on for a 1-0 home win over Egg Harbor Township. The game featured only nine total shots on goal, but Ocean City goalie Kieran Keyser made two saves.

Daniel Galeano scored two goals, and Ryan Taylor made seven saves as Absegami bested visiting Oakcrest, 4-1.

Dan Goldfarb and Sean Malone also scored for Absegami, which led by 1-0 at the break and broke out for three goals in the second half. Oakcrest goalie Mitch Friedel made 21 saves in the loss.

Mitch Grotti's two goals gave Millville enough offense for a 2-0 win over visiting Hammonton.

Nonleague. Ryan Butler and Jon Petitte each scored a goal as visiting Palmyra remained undefeated by beating Moorestown Friends, 2-0. Palmyra goalie Tim Brett made 11 saves in his fourth shutout in five games. Palmyra (5-0) has given up just one goal this season.
