Otto tallies five as Willingboro romps

Ansger Otto scored two goals within the first two minutes and deposited the ball in the net five times by halftime, allowing Willingboro to ease up on the pedal and cruise to a 7-0 victory at Pemberton in Burlington County League boys' soccer.

Hamilton Klar and Nick Polynice had the other goals for the Chimeras, with Kabol Kowalo chipping in a pair of assists.

In another Burlco match, James Citino's four-goal performance powered host Palmyra past Florence, 4-1.

Cape-Atlantic. Kevin Lombardo headed in a throw-in by Brandon Anderson with 4 minutes left in the first half, and Matt Rixey (four saves) preserved the lead in Middle Township's 1-0 win over visiting Wildwood Catholic.

Mike Pittman's two goals and shutout goaltending by Tom Davies (five saves) lifted Lower Cape May past visiting Buena, 2-0. Tyler Callahan's 13 saves kept the Chiefs in the game.

Brian Leyden converted a penalty kick in the final moments of the first half, and the goal held up as St. Joseph prevailed, 1-0, at Holy Spirit. Goalie John D'Agostino recorded a dozen saves in blanking the Spartans.

Sacred Heart pumped in five first-half goals, including a hat trick by Matthew Bik, en route to a 7-1 win at Cape May Tech.

Colonial. Jeremy Hacking and Taylor McGrory scored two goals apiece in Sterling's 7-1 triumph at Audubon.

Host Haddon Township used two goals by Joe Bernhardt and one each by Jay Casey and Chris Murphy to level Haddon Heights, 4-0. Jake Eubank handcuffed the Garnets, stopping 10 shots for the shutout.

A hat trick by Ryan Kelly paced a balanced offense for West Deptford in an 8-0 victory at Paulsboro.

Girls' Soccer

The Pemberton girls' soccer team broke through for a pair of second-half goals yesterday to win at Willingboro, 2-0, leaving the teams tied atop the Burlington County League's Freedom Division.

Sophia Pegram opened the scoring midway through the second half and Kim Mazzarelli added an insurance goal with 10 minutes remaining.

Brittney Boyle stopped seven shots to earn the shutout for the Hornets (7-3 overall, 5-1 league), while Janae Tucker had 13 saves to keep Willingboro (8-5, 5-1) close.

Colonial. Katina Anthony's second goal of the game, on a penalty kick with 9 minutes left in regulation, made Haddon Township a 2-1 winner at Haddon Heights.

Overbrook gained the upper hand in the first half, with goals by Amanda Stein and Patricia Creedon, and used two goalies to protect the lead in a 2-0 triumph at Lindenwold. Chrissy Rappold and Sam Bain combined for five saves in the shutout.

Cape-Atlantic. Nina Singleton and Leah Braidi scored two goals each and Rebecca Reid stopped all four shots she faced in Sacred Heart's 6-0 home win over Cape May Tech.

Middle Township ran its record to 11-1 by swamping host Wildwood, 7-0. Marina Mangano led the assault with three goals.

Two goals by Nicolette Hensel and one by Lily Taylor carried host Buena over Lower Cape May, 3-0. Brenae Johnson was perfect in the nets for the Chiefs.

Penn-Jersey. Mary Brodowski had a hat trick and Gina DiPierro added two goals to fuel a wide-open attack, as host Doane Academy waltzed past Villa Victoria, 8-0.

Field Hockey

St. Joseph took over first place in Division II of the Cape-Atlantic League National Conference, as Megan DeMarco assisted on all three goals in a 3-1 home win over Holy Spirit.

Alicia Falcone scored twice and Kerri Badessa had one goal for the Wildcats.

Cheyenne Seonia and Cori Hansen combined for two goals and two assists for host Lower Cape May, which opened up its attack in the second half to put away Sacred Heart, 4-0. Lindsay Obermeier and Meghan Oliver also scored for the Tigers.

Olympic. Host Bishop Eustace improved its National Division-leading record to 6-0 by shutting down Paul VI, 4-0.
