Ridley is site of District 1 title game

Despite several attempts to have the game held at Villanova University, Friday night's PIAA District 1 Class AAAA football championship between West Chester Henderson and Ridley will be played at Ridley.

The fifth-seeded Warriors (12-1) and top-seeded Green Raiders (12-0) will square off at 7:30 p.m. The game will be televised live on CN8.

District 12 champion George Washington (11-2) is scheduled to play District 11's Parkland (13-0) in a Class AAAA state quarterfinal at noon Saturday at J. Birney Crum Stadium in Allentown.

In a Class AAA quarterfinal, Garnet Valley (12-1) will face District 2's West Scranton (12-1) on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Coatesville.

Lansdale Catholic (12-1) is slated to play District 2's Dunmore (12-1) in a Class AA quarterfinal on Friday at 7 p.m. at Scranton Memorial Stadium.

The Catholic League Blue and Red Division championship games will be played this weekend, both at Northeast's Charlie Martin Memorial Stadium.

In the Blue Division final on Friday at 7 p.m., defending champion West Catholic (10-1) will take on Archbishop Wood (9-2).

On Saturday at 2 p.m., St. Joseph's Prep (10-2) will meet Roman Catholic (11-2) for the Red Division crown. The game will be televised live on CN8.
