Ryan Haber, a defensive tackle from St. Joseph's Prep, committed Sunday to playing football at Stony Brook.
The 6-foot-2, 270-pound Haber chose the Seawolves over Maine, Massachusetts and Elon.
Haber, of Lafayette Hill, said the opportunity to play right away as a freshman and the school's academics were two reasons.
"They're an up-and-coming program but have a need for defensive linemen," Haber said. "Playing time was a factor."
