S. Jersey Boys | Bordentown edges Medford Tech to win a playoff berth

With a 10-day layoff ahead, Bordentown's plan was simple - a win equaled a playoff berth. The Scotties punched their ticket to the postseason for the 12th time in the last 13 years with a 69-67 home victory over Medford Tech last night in a Burlington County League boys' basketball game.

The Scotties punched their ticket to the postseason for the 12th time in the last 13 years with a 69-67 home victory over Medford Tech last night in a Burlington County League boys' basketball game.

Bordentown improved to 8-8 and isn't scheduled to play again until Feb. 6, when it faces Holy Cross. Teams must have a .500 record or better after action next Saturday.

Jonathon Kohler accumulated 15 of his game-high 33 points in the fourth quarter as the Scotties closed out the game with a 23-12 run.

Olympic. Jay Donoghue delivered 20 points and Rich McNamara chipped in 16 as Seneca registered a 63-53 home win against Camden County Tech. Seneca bolted to a seven-point lead in the first quarter as Donoghue sank three long-distance shots and had 11 points during the run.

Tri-County. Behind Chris Radon's 17 points, Delsea secured a 56-54 home win over Cumberland.

Point guard Kevin Fetsick accumulated eight steals, eight assists and didn't have a turnover during Wildwood's 72-47 victory over visiting Pennsville.

Cape-Atlantic. Hector Delgado came off the bench to score a team-high 16 points, including 11 in the fourth quarter, as Vineland chalked up a 55-47 win over visiting Bridgeton. Terrell Sease continued the impressive off-the-bench work as he grabbed six rebounds and absorbed two charging calls for the Fighting Clan. Stephen Fortune scored a game-high 17 points for the Bulldogs.

Friends Schools. Santos Gonzales netted a game-high 22 points and Mike Young contributed 15 points and seven rebounds as Moorestown Friends pinned a 59-53 loss on visiting Westtown (Pa.).

Nonleague. Shaliek Johnson posted a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds and Tyshon Birch netted 19 points as Pennsauken Tech collected its 10th win with a 58-52 upset over visiting Cherry Hill West. The Tornados' defense tightened in the second half, holding West's Ian Davis (20 points) to just three points in the final 16 minutes.

Kenny Garrett poured in a game-high 25 points as Eastern moved a game over .500 with a 55-46 home win against Northwest Prep. Garrett was 9 of 11 from the foul line for the Vikings, who improved to 8-7.

Paulsboro scored a season high in points during an 89-37 home rout of Glassboro. Daryus Quarles led the way with 15 points for the Red Raiders.

Kenyatta Townsend scored 16 of his game-high 18 points in the second half as Highland put the finishing touches on a 49-45 triumph against visiting Washington Township.

in the opening round of the Jack Welch Duals.

John Darling (130 pounds), Dan Thompson (140) and Kim Harris (189) had pins for the Quakers.

Delran ran its unbeaten streak to 18 with a 64-6 rout of Hamilton West while Schalick, Lower Cape May and Williamstown also earned first-round victories at the tournament.

Burlington County. Sean Buck (125) and Tommy Callahan (130) delivered back-to-back wins as Rancocas Valley clinched at least a tie for the Liberty Division title with a 31-25 win at Northern Burlington.
