Passing along some city high school football tidbits . . . The kicking world works in mysterious ways. One possession after bumping aside 2003 St. Joseph's Prep grad Pat Kaiser to claim the city record for career PATs (with No. 158, en route to 162) in a 44-22 win over McDevitt last Saturday, West Catholic's Tim Carroll, a 6-3, 190-pound senior, finally added another weapon to his instepping arsenal: a field goal.

The outcome of tonight's PIAA District 1-12 Class A subregional championship football game between St. Pius X and Calvary Christian will hinge heavily on the status of Pius quarterback and free safety Cole Parkinson.

Paul Graham, Penncrest

The Penncrest Lions of coach Paul Graham upset Garnet Valley, 38-35, on Nov. 13 to win their first playoff game ever and advance to the quarterfinals of the PIAA District 1 Class AAAA football playoffs. Graham, in his third season, is 8-3 so far this year and has won four straight games and six of the last seven.
