For a short time on the first morning of U.S. Open week, the closest public transit station was closed because of flooding.

The Ardmore Avenue station on SEPTA's Norristown High Speed Line was shut down for about half an hour between 10 and 11 am due to the heavy rain. Riders coming from Norristown or 69th Street Terminal were forced to go to Haverford Station and take a shuttle bus back along Haverford Road to Gate 1 into Merion Golf Club.

And some of the 5,000 volunteers at the course this week, including those directing shuttle buses and spectators trying to get to and from SEPTA's nearby Rosemont Station on Regional Rail and stops on the High Speed Line had yet to become familiar with access to both.

SEPTA said it didn't have any indication as of 2:30 pm that any further closures would occur because of the ongoing rain.
