Tiger’s news conference at Aronimink

Tiger Woods held a news conference this afternoon at Aronimink Golf Club, in preparation for the AT&T National, which begins Thursday.

His lack of a teacher? "It is pretty simple," Woods said. "Using video, video does a lot. If you get the proper angles, it's pretty simple if the club is on plane or not."

About Aronimink: "A lot of my friends have played the golf course and the golf course is in phenominal shape," he said. "It's going to be a great week . . . The greens are still pretty firm. The rough is up, as it should be. This is a golf course that has hosted major championships."

About his golf game and neck injury: "Your golf game is never where you want it to be even when you're having your best days, you always want it to be better," Woods said. "The neck is better than it was. It is where I want it? No. It's always a work in progress."

About the distractions in his life after his admission of marital infidelity: "Everyone has had distraction in their lives," he said. "My life out here on tour has become more normalized. Getting out there and talking to you guys about the game of golf, it wasn't like that the beginning of the year. But that has changed and that's good."

About playing the British Open at St. Andrews next month: "I fell in love with it [St. Andrews] the first time I played it," he said. "We've all played under different conditions there and that's why I love it so much. I thought it would be a little more narrow, but once you start playing, you realize it is not that wide. You can hit every fairway there and not have a shot at a flag."

About being a role model and being the favorite golfer among kids: "I certainly have made my mistakes," he said. "Take full ownership of them. No one lives a perfect life. No one does. When you make a mistake, step up to the plate and take full ownership of it."

About Sean O'Hair, a PGA Tour member who is a member at Aronimink: "Sean is a great kid," Woods said. "You couldn't meet a more humble, down-to-earth guy. He's a pretty funny guy, he loves to tell jokes. His game has improved a lot. He is making progress each and every year."

Woods will tee off on the first hole at 12:56 p.m. on Thursday, in a group with Dustin Johnson and Davis Love III.
