Yi wins LPGA Ohio tourney in playoff

SYLVANIA, Ohio - Eunjung Yi blew a 6-stroke lead after the third hole, but she hit a 10-foot birdie putt on the first playoff hole yesterday to defeat Morgan Pressel and win what might be the final Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic.

The 21-year-old Yi gained her first LPGA Tour victory, finishing at 18-under 266 at Highland Meadows Golf Club.

Michelle Wie finished at 16 under, in a three-way tie for third with Seon Hwa Lee and Song-Hee Kim.

The tournament's contract has expired.

 

European Tour

ST.-QUENTIN-EN-YVELINES, France - Martin Kaymer of Germany won the French Open, beating Lee Westwood of England on the first hole of a playoff at Le Golf National. The two finished regulation at 13-under 271.
