Matthew shares lead in Arizona

SUPERSTITION MOUNTAIN, Ariz. - On a blustery day that must have reminded her of her native Scotland, Catriona Matthew shot a 4-under-par 68 yesterday for a share of the lead with Young Jo in the suspended first round of the LPGA Tour's Safeway International on Superstition Mountain's Prospector Course.

BROUSSARD, La. - Brendan Pappas missed a chance to shoot the fourth 59 in Nationwide Tour history, parring the final two holes for an 11-under 60 in the first round of the Louisiana Open at Le Triomphe Country Club.

ORLANDO, Fla. - PGA Tour player Arjun Atwal estimated he was going 80 m.p.h. in a 45-m.p.h. zone just before a car speeding next to him flipped, killing its driver, documents from the Florida Highway Patrol show.

Witnesses have said Atwal and John N. Park, who died, were street racing on March 10. Atwal has said he was not racing.

No criminal charges have been filed.
