The Flyers put off Nolan Patrick's first team workout again Thursday, as the No. 2 overall draft pick missed a scheduled skate with what general manager Ron Hextall called an "infection in his face."

The team could not be reached for further comment.

Patrick, an 18-year-old from Winnipeg, missed the Flyers' rookie camp earlier this month while he recovered after having sports hernia surgery in June. The hernia limited Patrick to 33 games last season with the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League. In those games, he scored 20 goals and added 26 assists.

Patrick had planned on skating for the Flyers on Wednesday morning, but the team pushed that back to Thursday, a team spokesman saying the delay was "nothing." The Flyers have been expecting Patrick to be ready for the start of training camp before they open their preseason Sept. 17.

Briefly: Comcast Spectacor, which also owns the Flyers, announced Thursday that it will hold a contest to name its new ECHL team based in Portland, Maine. Fans can submit suggestions on the team's website. Comcast Spectacor purchased the folding Alaska Aces in June and announced it would move them to Portland, where the new team will start playing in the 2018-19 season.
