KEY PLAYERS: Edmonton will use backup goalie Laurent Brossoit because starter Cam Talbot is still injured. Brossoit has allowed five goals in each of his last two starts, and overall, he has a 3.80 GAA and .872 save percentage. Edmonton coach Todd McLellan told reporters Brossoit has "made some extraordinary saves, but the ordinary save is one we're looking for as well."

Superstar Connor McDavid, who leads Edmonton with 11 goals and 32 points,  is one of many Oilers who has battled the flu recently, but he practiced Tuesday and will play Wednesday. One of McDavid's linemates, Milan Lucic, has eight points over his last eight games.

Ryan-Nugent Hopkins is second on the Oilers with 10 goals.

The Flyers' new lines helped them end a 10-game losing streak and defeat Calgary on Monday, 5-2. Jake Voracek, replaced on the top line by Wayne Simmonds, had three assists to give him 26 for the season, tied for third in the NHL.

Voracek's line, which included Val Filppula and Michael Raffl, was dominating against the Flames. So was Scott Laughton's fourth line.

The Flyers are trying to register back-to-back wins for just the second time this season.

Brian Elliott, who made 43 saves in Monday's win, is expected to get the start for the Flyers.

THINGS TO KNOW: Rookie Robert Hagg and Sean Couturier lead the Flyers with plus-11 ratings. Former Flyer Brayden Schenn shares the NHL lead at plus-22. … Edmonton defenseman Adam Larsson remains sidelined with an unspecified injury. … Former Flyers farmhand Patrick Maroon is third on the Oilers with eight goals. … Couturier has a team-high 14 goals, one shy of his career high.

HEAD TO HEAD: This is the second and final meeting between the teams. Simmonds scored with 2:15 left to lift the Flyers past the visiting Oilers, 2-1, on Oct. 21. The Flyers have a 34-31-8-1 advantage in the all-time series, but they have won just one of their last eight games in Edmonton.
