Voracek injured in KHL game

POSTED: Sunday, October 7, 2012, 5:49 PM

Ah, just what the Flyers needed _ news that the player penciled in as their top-line right winger had been injured.

Jake Voracek, 23, playing in the KHL while the NHL is in lockout mode, suffered a knee injury in a game Saturday and is expected to miss four weeks, according to his KHL team, HC Lev Praha.

If the NHL ever ends its labor dispute, the Flyers are counting on Voracek to be on their No. 1 line with Claude Giroux and Scott Hartnell.

After scoring a career-high 18 goals last season, Voracek signed a four-year, $17 million contract in late July.

By the way, the lockout has reached 22 days. And counting.

If the lockout ends before Voracek is ready to return, right winger Wayne Simmonds might move to the top line for the Flyers. Simmonds and Voracek are two of the seven Flyers playing in Europe during the NHL's labor stalemate.

I hardly think a knee injury that will keep him out a week will have any effect on the next time he plays for the Flyers.

I hope the lockout ends becasue we will have nothing to watch, sportswise, come December when the Eagles are out of it. Maybe Vick can play right wing becasue he sure as hell can't play quarterback. He is the worst quarterblack in the league.

Great ! Lockout, no hockey and our star players are getting roughed up in the European beer leagues. You would think the owners would want to protect their most valuable assets. What a joke.

I hope all the NHL players over there get hurt and then the owners will have to use minor leaguers to fill the rosters and no one will come to watch. Will serve them all right.

They must of changed it because it clearly said one week earlier. I can't believe players under contract are allowed to play elsewhere. Lockout or not they are still signed. It's not all the owners fault. There is no way the players should get 57% they have to come to reality. The tv deal is nothing compared to other sports

I just don't get why it can't be 50/50. I read the owners are pushing for 47%

As I heard someone else state: "love the sport, hate the league" ...
