Timonen: Flyers had 'no energy'

For the second straight game, the Flyers lost to one of the Eastern Conference's worst teams.

This time, it was the Carolina Hurricanes who outworked the Flyers and scored a 4-2 win at the Wells Fargo Center on Monday.

Things were so bad that, in the game's final minute, there were Eagles chants echoing around the arena.

"The better team won," said defenseman Kimmo Timonen, who was undressed by Jeff Skinner's (Spinner?) gorgeous spin-orama that led to a first-period Carolina goal. "I don't even think they played that good, but we were flat. No energy, no jump. I don't think we created a lot of scoring chances."

The Flyers played without Chris Pronger (virus) and two key injured players, Jaromir Jagr and Braydon Coburn.

But that doesn't excuse the listless effort.

On Saturday, they lost to lowly Winnipeg, 6-4, and allowed three PP goals.

Carolina had two PP goals Monday. In the last two games, the Flyers' PK has allowed five goals in 12 tries.

Sean Couturier played just 6:44 while centering Jody Shelley and Zac Rinaldo. The Flyers are 3-5-1 with Shelley in the lineup.
