Former Flyers winger Steve Downie is quickly settling with his new team, the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Downie spoke to the Pittsburgh media Thursday and talked about his role with the team. Among his duties will be making sure no one takes any liberties with stars Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. In fact, he guaranteed that no one will.

There’s nothing wrong with Downie wanting to protect Crosby and Malkin. He is their new teammate after all. But he will have to eventually live up to that guarantee, especially against a certain former team of his that wears orange and black.
