Guerin cut; Backlund sent down

Veteran winger Bill Guerin was released  today by the Flyers, general manager Paul Holmgren announced during a conference call with the media.

Guerin was trying to make the club as a free agent.

The Flyers sent Johan Backlund, Marc-Andre Bourdon, Erik Gustafsson, Jon Kalinski, Mike Testwuide, David Laliberte and Ben Holmstrom to Phantoms.

    After Giroux and JVR, the Flyers have drafted HORRIBLE forwards. A bunch of guys who can't score and bring little else to the table. And with their rotating grinder of defensemen, I have no faith in Marc-A-B just like Bartulius, Jones, Picards, and Sbisa before him. The bright light seems to be Bobo The Goalie so far.

    Spazcat: Yeah, where are these supposed ESPN stats that show Carcillo drawing more PIMS than he takes? I just looked, never heard of that being kept. Please post the link.

    To all you "Everyone knows what guerin brings to the table" people...using that logic, I think the Flyers goaltending issues could be cleared up by bringing back Bernie Parent!!!!!
