Giroux, Boucher help Flyers get back on track

TORONTO _ The Flyers, thanks to one of their best all-around efforts in the last month, increased their Eastern Conference lead to four points with their second straight victory, a hard-fought 3-2 win in Toronto on Thursday night.

Despite playing without injured defenseman Chris Pronger, the Flyers ran their record to 3-1 against the Maple Leafs this season and avenged last week's 3-2 loss.

Goalie Brian Boucher (27 saves) was solid, and Claude Giroux collected a goal and an assist to lead the Flyers.

Giroux's 22d goal late in the second period gave the Flyers a 3-1 lead and proved to be the game-winner. He scored from the low slot after a deft touch pass from James van Riemsdyk, who was just a few feet away.

"I don't know if he meant to do it, but he did, and it was right in my wheelhouse," Giroux said with a smile.
