Former Flyer Ray Emery leads NHL's stingiest defense with Chicago Blackhawks

For yet another season, Flyers fans have been left asking why one of the National Hockey League's best goaltenders couldn't play that way in Philadephia.

For yet another season, Flyers fans have been left asking why one of the National Hockey League's best goaltenders couldn't play that way in Philadephia.

Ray Emery of the Chicago Blackhawks has won the William M. Jennings Trophy for having helped his team give up the fewest goals this season.

Emery, who played for the Flyers during the 2009-10 season, split the prize with teammate Carey Crawford. The duo allowed a combined 102 goals during the NHL's abbreviated campaign.

Chicago won the Presidents' Trophy this season with the NHL's best record, 36-7-5. Emery finished the season with a 1.94 goals-against average and a 0.922 save percentage. His 17 wins included 12 straight to start the year, the best such streak in NHL history.
