The Flyers will have to wait until Jan. 23 at the United Center for their one rematch with the Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks.

The Flyers open the season Oct. 7 at Pittsburgh, as the league announced before the Stanley Cup finals, in the first game in the Penguins' new Consol Energy Center. Two nights later, the Flyers are in St. Louis for the Blues' home opener.

The home opener at the Wachovia Center is Oct. 11 against Colorado, when the Eastern Conference championship banner will be raised. It will be the first banner raising since 2004.

That opens a five-game homestand that also includes a visit from the Penguins and is the longest homestand of the season.

The Flyers' longest road stretch of the season has nine of 10 away from home, including the annual West Coast trip at Christmas. The first leg of the trip has the Flyers at Vancouver on Dec. 28, Los Angeles on Dec. 30 and Anaheim on New Year's Eve. The trip contines in Detroit on Jan. 2. The Flyers then play a home-and-home series with New Jersey and then visit Buffalo (Jan. 11), Boston (Jan. 13), Atlanta (Jan. 14) and the Rangers (Jan. 16).

The Flyers close the regular season at home against the Islanders on April 9.

Each team will play every other team at least once for the third consecutive year. The Flyers will play each of the Atlantic Division teams six times (three at home, three on the road). They play the other 10 teams in the Eastern Conference four times (two home, two on the road), and then 18 games against the Western Conference. They play each team once, except they have home and away games against Anaheim, Dallas and Los Angeles.

The Flyers will not travel to Nashville, Phoenix, Calgary, Edmonton, Colorado and San Jose.

The breakdown of games by days of the week is 20 on Saturday, 19 on Thursday, 15 on Tuesday, 10 on Sunday, seven on Friday, six on Monday, and five on Wednesday. The Flyers' 41-game home schedule has seven afternoon games.
