A day after he spent a night in jail for a bizarre incident at an Ottawa bar, Flyers captain Claude Giroux issued an apology Thursday.
“I regret my actions on Canada Day and sincerely apologize to my fans, teammates and the Philadelphia Flyers organization for my misguided attempt at humor,” he said in a statement.
Giroux, 26, was arrested Tuesday night for repeatedly grabbing the buttocks of a male police officer at an Ottawa bar, and alcohol was believed to be involved. The Ottawa police said no charges will be filed.
“Moving forward, we will deal with this internally and we will no longer publicly discuss this matter,” Flyers general manager Rox Hextall said.
