Bryz: NHL's back-to-back 1st star

Is there a hotter goaltender in the NHL than Ilya Bryzgalov?

Not according to the league, who voted him as the First Star of the week for the second week in a row.

Scott Hartnell stole the headlines with his two-goal performance on Sunday against the Penguins, but Bryzgalov was equally as good, turning aside 38 shots to allow the Flyers a chance to comeback from a 2-0 deficit.

Overall, from March 12-18, Bryzgalov was 3-0-1 with a 1.44 goals against-average and a .950 save percentage with one shutout as the Flyers earned 7 out of a possible 8 points. He started back-to-back games for the Flyers over the weekend.

He edged out Chicago's Corey Crawford (3-0-0, 1.09, .948) and Nashville's Martin Erat (2 G, 5 A) for the honor.

Last week, from March 5-11, Bryzgalov was 3-0-0 with a 0.65 goals against-average, a .979 save percentage and two shutouts when he nabbed the award.

Bryzgalov set the NHL's second-best modern-day shutout streak record with a run of 249:43 in between goals, second only to Brian Boucher's 332:01 mark with Phoenix in 2003-04.

Bryzgalov has now posted 30 wins for the third straight season. He is the first Flyers goaltender to collect 30 wins in one campaign since Marty Biron in 2007-08.

Since being yanked against the Penguins on Feb. 18, Bryzgalov is 10-2-1 with a 1.69 goals against-average, a .941 save percentage and 4 shutouts. Impressive, indeed.
