Simon Gagne could be back in the lineup sooner than expected.

Gagne practiced on Monday morning at the Flyers Skate Zone in Voorhees, N.J., wearing a yellow jersey to single himself out from the rest of the Flyers’ lines. It was his first full practice with the team since he had abdominal surgery on Nov. 2 to strengthen and repair two tears in the abdominus rectus muscle.

Doctors originally predicted that Gagne would be out of the lineup for 6 to 8 weeks.

He started skating on his own two weeks ago when the Flyers started their five-game West Coast road trip. In 9 games this season, Gagne has one goal and 4 assists.

I will get an update from Gagne after practice. As of now, no definitive date has been set for his return.

Earlier on Monday morning, Darroll Powe and Blair Betts - two players that have been out of the lineup with shoulder injuries – skated on a different rink with Flyers assistant coach Joe Mullen. Backup Brian Boucher was also on the ice for some extra work.

Flyers coach John Stevens said that both Scott Hartnell and Kimmo Timonen missed practice as planned "maintenance" days.

Here were the Flyers’ lines from practice:

Ross – Carter – Briere
Van Riemsdyk – Richards – Pyorala
Asham – Giroux – Carcillo
Cote / Nodl – Kalinski – Laperriere
Gagne (yellow)

Here we go again. He'll come back sooner than expected, be hailed for doing so, then after doing nothing for 4 or 5 games, he'll pull up lame and say he is still sore from the surgery and might have come back too soon. Then he will get shut down for another 10 games. Like sands through the hourglass, so goes the usual Flyers' injury song and dance. So predictable.

I hope that your not right, but unfortunately, this all sounds so familiar.

Couldn't agree more. This is just one of the many mistakes the Flyers repeat over and over and over and over again. They never learn. I hate to say it, but the only suspense this season has for me is the question of whether it's going to be the Penguins, Caps or Devils who send the Flyers packing in the first round.

Yeah where is Hartnell, shouldn't that be the lead of the story instead of telling us that Gagne is right where we expect him to be. Sorry Frank, but go back to coordinating your high school's yearbook.

Hartnell was at the barber's shop in Voorhees this AM. Purely speculation on my part but at least you're getting something about his whereabouts when the beat writer leaves that question hanging out there. Good to know that Cote/ Nodl was there though!

Hartnell was skating with Timonen on the other rink, nice reading comprehension.

Talking about the not so obvious injuries-anyone notice the last time richards took a real slapshot? Like when he was blasting them in from the point on the pp a few years ago racking them up? I think his shoulders are screwed/still screwed from the surgery. Plus Stevens is burning the players out again, moron. What a buffoon the coach is , they cant even get the pack mentality of us against the world and score one stinking goal. Johnny there is nice job driving a bus for Septa, you can even get free viagra so you dont fall out of bed. Any of these guys who are injured and go play in the olympics -or tried out when injured like mr psycho medical treatment Gagne should have been suspended, the devil with the NHLPA and NHL excecs. yes mr psycho medical treatment- inject him with fresh squeezed something or other to treat his latest woes, where is his witch doctor? why bother the league will never let any team that is profitable win the cup, it wont go with their master plan (errr master failure)
