Flyers trade Danny Syvret to New York Rangers for Kris Newbury
The Flyers traded defenseman Danny Syvret to the New York Rangers in exchange for forward Kris Newbury, according to the team.
Last season, the 5-foot-11, 203-pound Syvret played 76 games for the Adirondack Phantoms, the Flyers' AHL affiliate, scoring six goals and recording 34 assists. He had a minus-six rating for the season.
Syvret last played in the NHL in 2010-11, where he appeared in four games with the Flyers.
Newbury, a 5-foot-11, 205-pound enforcer, knows his way to the penalty box.
Last season, the 31-year-old Newbury appeared in six games with the Rangers, notching an assist and nine penalty minutes. He also played 70 games with the Rangers' AHL affiliate Connecticut Whale, where he scored 20 goals, earned 42 assists and totaled 127 penalty minutes.
In his entire NHL career, Newbury has four goals, five assists and 132 penalty minutes in 72 games over seven seasons.
Newbury was originally a fifth round selection, 139th overall, of the San Jose Sharks in the 2002 NHL Draft.
