Flyers defenseman Nick Grossmann, injured Saturday in a 4-2 win over the New York Rangers, said he will find out Monday if he suffered a concussion.

Grossmann was injured when a second-period shot by the Rangers' Rick Nash struck his left shoulder and head. He underwent testing and will be reevaluated Monday, when he will learn if he is cleared to play Tuesday against visiting Calgary.

"It's too soon to tell," Grossmann said Sunday while he participated in the Flyers Wives Carnival at the Wells Fargo Center. "I don't want to say yes and then not do it. I'll just leave it until [Monday]."

Del Zotto's hot

Defenseman Michael Del Zotto continued his hot streak Saturday, scoring the winning goal while the Flyers were shorthanded.

"This is the best part of the year - every game and every shift matters so much," Del Zotto said.

In his last 17 games, Del Zotto has six goals, which is three more than Claude Giroux and four more than Jake Voracek in that span.

Del Zotto said the coaching staff has shown a lot of trust in him lately by "throwing me in all situations. The first penalty kill, power play, five-on-five. Any time that happens it helps with your confidence."

After struggling with the Rangers and Nashville last season, Del Zotto has regained the form he showed in his early years with New York.

"I think I'm maturing a little bit," Del Zotto said. "I'm 24 now and in my sixth year in the league. You see things a little differently. You get to know the league a little bit, each player, and get to know the game more."

Wives' carnival

Proceeds from the Flyers' Wives' 38th annual Fight for Lives Carnival will benefit 200 local charities.

"Just seeing the smiles on all the kids' faces makes it all worthwhile," winger Wayne Simmonds said.

Breakaways

Goalie Rob Zepp, waived because he played 10 games under emergency recall, was sent to the Phantoms, and Anthony Stolarz was recalled. If injured backup Ray Emery is ready to play Tuesday, Stolarz will return to Lehigh Valley. . . . Mark Streit is tied for seventh among NHL defensemen with 32 assists. . . . At the carnival, a young fan asked winger Zac Rinaldo when the Flyers were going to win the Stanley Cup. "We've got to make the playoffs first, and when we do, we're going to win the Cup," Rinaldo said.
