Flyers to open prospect camp

Six-day camp starts Thursday.

THE FLYERS will open their annual development camp for prospects beginning Thursday at the Skate Zone in Voorhees, N.J.

The 6-day camp's first on-ice session starts at 2 p.m. Thursday, continuing through Tuesday, July 15. All on-ice sessions are free and open to the public.

A total of 29 prospects will be participating this year, including the Flyers' last three first-round picks: defensemen Travis Sanheim (2014) and Samuel Morin (2013) and forward Scott Laughton (2012). The Frozen Four's most outstanding player, Shayne Gostisbehere, and 2013 second-round pick, Robert Hagg, also will be in attendance.

Laughton, 20, is expected to battle for a roster spot with the Flyers when their full training camp opens in September. Goaltending prospect Anthony Stolarz will also participate for the third straight summer, before he makes the jump to the professional ranks this fall.

The boys will take a break from the ice to visit Stone Harbor, N.J., for the annual "Trial on the Isle" on Monday. They will participate in several conditioning and team-building exercises, a free youth hockey clinic at Stone Harbor Elementary, a free autograph session and a beach volleyball tournament.
