Avs finish off Rangers in shootout

Defenseman Tyson Barrie forged a tie with 52 seconds left in the third period before scoring the lone goal of the shootout in the first round as the host Avalanche seized their fifth consecutive victory, beating the Rangers, 3-2, Thursday night.

Maple Leafs 4, Bruins 3 - Center Nazem Kadri scored a power-play goal at 2 minutes, 51 seconds of overtime to give host Toronto the victory over Boston to keep its playoff hopes alive.

The Bruins scored two goals in the third period to tie it after Maple Leafs goaltender Jonathan Bernier left because of injury and was replaced by James Reimer.

Flames 4, Lightning 1 - Karri Ramo turned aside 31 shots to beat his former team and Curtis Glencross scored two late goals as visiting Calgary handed Tampa Bay only its second loss in 14 games.

Hurricanes 4, Stars 1 - John-Michael Liles had a goal and two assists to lead Carolina past visiting Dallas.

Liles, Eric Staal, and Justin Faulk each scored during a run of three goals in a 4:36 span of the second period.
