While warming up, Rupp crashed into the boards, causing fan John Kraynak to spill his beer.

Seeing the carnage, Rupp asked the trainer to get $10 out of his wallet in the locker room. Rupp then wrote an apology on a puck, signed it, taped the $10 bill to it, and tossed it to Kraynak.

The Phillies bobbled a listing for a Roy Oswalt bobblehead giveaway.

On their website's three-pack ticket page, under the May 24 game against the Reds, there is a promotion for a "Toyota Roy Oswald Bobble Figurine."

Let's hope he pitches better than they spell.

A coach with a big heart and one kidney

We've already cast our ballot for college baseball coach of the year. It's Wake Forest's Tom Walter, who donated a kidney to freshman outfielder Kevin Jordan.

The transplant took place Monday. Both are recovering in an Atlanta hospital.

He's the one wearing spikes on the court

The great-grandson of baseball legend Ty Cobb is playing basketball at Occidental College. His name is also Ty Cobb, and he's a 19-year-old freshman forward. Oddly enough, he's not the first player with a famous relative to play for Occidental coach Brian Newhall. The great-grandson of the late, great John Wooden played 4 years ago.

If at first you don't succeed . . .

The Brooklyn Cyclones, the Mets' Class A farm team, is giving Christina Aguilera a chance to redeem herself. The team has invited Aguilera - who botched the national anthem at Sunday's Super Bowl - to sing the song at a home game this summer.

Odds are that Vegas won't issue prop bets.
