Devil injured

New Jersey right winger David Clarkson suffered a fracture above the right ankle when struck by Zdeno Chara's slapshot Friday in New Jersey's 2-1 shoot-out win in Boston.

Lou Lamoriello, the Devils' president and general manager, said Clarkson will be out four to six weeks.

Hurricanes moves

Carolina brought Bryan Rodney back up to the NHL, recalling the defenseman from its AHL affiliate in Albany.

He played in five games with Carolina earlier this month and had two assists.

Former Flyers defenseman Joni Pitkanen suffered an undisclosed upper-body injury Friday against Atlanta.

Naslund unretires

Markus Naslund came out of retirement to play with childhood friend Peter Forsberg for hometown team Modo in Ornskoldsvik, Sweden, getting an assist in a 4-1 win over Rogle in the Swedish League.

Naslund last played when the New York Rangers were eliminated last season in the playoffs. He set up Forsberg, a former Flyer, to make it 1-0 in the first period as the two former NHL all-stars needed little time to get reacquainted on the ice.

Two Stars return

The Dallas Stars recalled left winger Fabian Brunnstrom from the Texas Stars of the AHL and activated center Brian Sutherby from injured reserve last night.

Brunnstrom missed eight games with a right-shoulder injury and is coming off a two-game minor-league rehabilitation assignment.

Sutherby sat out seven games with a groin injury.
