The Flyers' first home game will be Oct. 6 against Alexander Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals.

The Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins make an early visit to the Wachovia Center, on Oct. 8.

The NHL schedule was released today and, of course, the highlight is the Flyers' game at Fenway Park against the Bruins in the Winter Classic on Jan. 1.

The NHL will take a break for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. The Flyers' last game before the break is Feb. 13 at Montreal. They will return March 2 at Tampa Bay.
