Paddock promoted by Flyers; Reese new goalie coach
The Flyers have promoted John Paddock to assistant general manager, GM Paul Holmgren announced today.
Paddock was the coach of the Phantoms, who have moved to Glens Falls, N.Y. Paddock joins Barry Hanrahan as a Flyers' assistant general manager.
In addition, the Flyers officially annouced that Jeff Reese has been named goaltending coach.
"In addition to helping with the day-to-day operation of our team, John will oversee the Phantoms in Glens Falls, interacting with the coaching staff there and following the development of our young players," Holmgren in making the announcement.
Paddock, 55, was 43-30-2-5 last season with the Phantoms. He previously coached the Ottawa Senators and Winnipeg Jets in the NHL.
"I am obviously thrilled about this," Paddock said. "This was not something that I imagined, just like last summer when I didn't imagine Paul would call me in August and offer me the Phantoms coaching job. The organization has been great to me. This is where I first cut my teeth into professional hockey many years ago and I'm very excited to do it."
Reese, 43, spent the last eight seasons as goaltending coach with the Tampa Bay Lightning. *
