Flyers to open season vs. Rangers

The Flyers announced they will open their 42nd season with a Saturday night home game on Oct. 11 against the New York Rangers.

The Flyers will play each NHL team at least once in their 82-game schedule. The season's final game is Sunday, April 12, a home game against the Rangers.

Stanley Cup champion Detroit will play host to the Flyers on Tuesday, March 17. The Red Wings do not play in Philadelphia next season.

The Flyers' first road game is Tuesday, Oct. 14 at Pittsburgh. The Penguins eliminated the Flyers in last season's Eastern Conference finals. The Flyers' longest road trip is from Dec. 26 to Jan. 6, when they visit Chicago, Columbus, Vancouver, Anaheim, Los Angeles and Washington. *
