And it sounds like he's about to get it.
There has been nothing official from the Los Angeles Kings other than an acknowledgement that the former Flyers head coach is a "strong candidate," but numerous reports say Murray is about be named the Kings' head coach.
Kings general manager Dean Lombardi said in a statement that no agreement was in place with Murray, but said, "We have met with Terry on more than one occasion and we consider him to be a strong candidate for this position."
Murray could not be reached for comment, but Flyers general manger Paul Holmgren said that he was asked permission by Lombardi, a former Flyers scout, to talk with Murray.
"I'm not sure where they are at in the process," Holmgren said. "The last I heard they were heading down that road [to naming him coach], but I'll hear at some point."
This would be Murray's fourth stint as an NHL head coach. Along with the Flyers, he previously coached the Washington Capitals and Florida Panthers.
