Now all he wants is more.
"There are a lot of firsts that are going to happen this year," Biron said after he backstopped the Flyers to a 3-2 overtime win in the Verizon Center last night, making 39 saves in the process.
"This is my first playoffs, my first overtime a couple of games ago, first Game 7, and I want to keep going with the firsts starting over again with this second series; that's what we'll do."
Entering last night's game, Biron was one of the biggest question marks for the Flyers. He had started in four games that were the second in back-to-back sets and had lost them all. He relieved in a fifth, and took that loss too.
Oh-and-5 was a number that was staring Biron in the face. But he was huge when he had to be. He stopped all 16 Washington shots in the third period.
"It was 2-2 [last night] and I kind of figured that the next goal has a chance to be the winning goal so every time you get a shot, you hope you can make that save to buy your team a little time to get some bounces or to get on the offense. So in the third period it was all about turning away shots to buy some time and your team an opportunity to get that goal.''
Flyers forward Steve Downie played for the first time in the series.
He was on the ice for 6 minutes, 34 seconds, was a minus-1, and took two minor penalties.
"This is the biggest game of my life," Downie said before the game. "It's Game 7. I don't think it gets any better than that.'' *
