Morning Report / Having a Devil of a time

It is safe to say that the New Jersey Devils have the Flyers' number.

It is safe to say that the New Jersey Devils have the Flyers' number.

Scoring five power-play goals, New Jersey dominated the Flyers, 7-3, last night at the Wachovia Center. The Devils have beaten the Flyers five straight times and are 15-1-1 in their last 17 meetings.

"Sometimes you match up better against a team than you do others," goalie Martin Brodeur said after the Devils moved into first place in the Atlantic Division. "We have tremendous respect for them, and because of the physical aspect of that team, you have to be aware of what you're doing out there all the time."

Brodeur looked shaky early, but he finished with 24 saves.

"We had a total letdown," Flyers coach John Stevens said.

"It's kind of like a wake-up call, lets us know we have a long way to go if we want to beat that team," forward Sami Kapanen said.

The Flyers will get a chance to bounce back with a home game Thursday night against the Pittsburgh Penguins, who will be without the explosive Sidney Crosby (sprained ankle).

The Flyers are 3-0 against Pittsburgh this season.
