UPDATE (6:30 p.m.): Flyers forward Scott Hartnell will be out indefinitely with a left foot injury, according to general manager Paul Holmgren. Details on the injury are below. The Flyers, 0-3-0 to start the season for the first time since 1994-95, will already be without suspended forward Brayden Schenn and Danny Briere (wrist) on Thursday night against the Rangers.
Holmgren said the Flyers will know more in a day or two after receiving results from tests.
__________ Scott Hartnell
Danny Briere, who is not expected back until the weekend at the earliest with a wrist injury, temporarily took Hartnell's place on his line with Claude Giroux and Jake Voracek in practice.
Hartnell took a Kimmo Timonen slap shot to his left foot with 6:53 remaining but still finished the game. He had an ice bag on his foot and was limping post-game.
Hartnell's status for Thursday's home contest against the Rangers is unknown. An update is expected from GM Paul Holmgren later in the day.
Also, defenseman Kurtis Foster was back at practice on Wednesday after missing Tuesday's game. The Flyers had all 7 defensemen on-ice on Wednesday.

The team is thin in depth and getting thinner. I've defended Holmgren but can no longer. He's built a mechanical mouse and it sure isn't roaring. I would not have said this before but this could be make or break time for Holmgren. This team is careening all over the road and Holmgren appears asleep at the wheel. Claudio Vernight
Who is going to trip over the blue line now that Hartnell is out?? FlyersLosersFor38Years
I mean, lets settle a bit here. mot knew injuries would be a major factor with the lockout and shotrtened season. so the league and players made that bed. now they have to sleep in it. frstrm
Only thing the Flyers hit all night bmax
Wasn't a foot. Probably a split end. Sidney Crosby
Hopefully, Holmgren stays the course, no matter what happens. If he panics, expect 2 good young players and a high draft pick to be unloaded for some 37 yr old has been! It used to be the Salary Cap, now its injuries. Don't do it, Homer! cooperhawk
I'm still pissed they didn't keep Jagr! sgamble077
Good...now with a little luck Giroux is next.... Soul child2013
Jagr would look great right now, but it's hard to fault Holmgren for not giving him 4.5 mil. People on these boards would have been crying about how it was too much. But in hindsight, after not landing other free agents and winding up well under the cap, it would have been a no brainer. vvvmetallicavvv
Doesn't matter. Season's over. brio
Would somebody please tell the Flyers' goalscorers that the strike is over? Phillyfan among the NYers
Ok all of you losers can root for the rangers tomorrow. You are not Flyers fans. Since you are clearly off the bus, STAY OFF you idiots. drenner
I'd have to think the foot is broken after the shot he took to it.
Let it heal totally, Scotty.

good thing it's a long season...oh, wait Remember Tim Kerr
When it rains it pours. This is when a team has to really pull it together and show their true heart. Let's go Flyers! Beat those Rags! Fly Guy
i'm sure that hot weather chick from channel 10 is rubbing his feet right now Zero

Losing sells lots of Philly newspapers keep up the good work Flyers along with all the other Philly sports teams, and please do not use injuries as an excuse. T.CAP t. cap
i just cant stress enough how sick and tired i am of these posts and yes why do i read them. i don't know, the witty sarcastic humor, the fire the coach, gm and trainer after three games, it's the same old, same old every year with every team. the comment section is the most annoying invention ever. just to remind all of the comedic, sardonic know it all's here the last time the flyers started 0 and 3 was 1995 another 48 game lockout shortened season as im sure you all know, the flyers went on to reach the semi finals losing to the devils in six games. deatheater
At least we're in line for a good draft pick. Any good goalies or players coming through? Apollo Creed
It's coming apart Homer, this is your team. The Flyers and the Phantoms are almost the same team! Its obvious Homer and Little Petey are completely lost. I watched the Toronto/Pit game last night,JVR scored two goals in their victory over the Pens.Hartnell is and always was a "Flash in the Pan". Time for some changes! quigly46
isnt this the same way the eagles season started out? not looking good.... Evil Overlord
