How the locked-out Flyers fared in their European debuts

Wayne Simmonds was held scoreless in his first game for Eispiraten Crimmitschau (Crimmitschau Ice Pirates) in Germany’s Eishockey Bundesliga. Simmonds was unable to capitalize on four scoring chances, but the Eispiraten ended up defeating Lausitzer Füchse (Lausitzer Foxes) 2-1 in overtime. Simmonds was credited with an assist in his second game on Saturday when the Eispiraten faced the Landshut Cannibals. (That’s not even a translation, that’s actually the name of the team.) The Cannibals tore through the Ice Pirates, winning 6-2.

Ilya Bryzgalov was roughed up in his first start for CSKA Moscow, coughing up four goals on 30 shots in a 4-3 loss to Traktor Chelyabinsk. Bryz was not dressed for any of CSKA’s next three games.

Elsewhere in the KHL, Jakub Voracek was unable to register a shot-on-goal in 16:34 of ice time in his debut for HC Lev in their 6-1 drubbing by Evgeny Malkin’s Metallurg Magnitogorsk. Malkin scored a goal and two assists over 22 shifts. After 6 games with Lev, Voracek has scored a goal and five assists and is averaging 16:40 minutes of ice-time per game.

Ruslan Fedotenko, a winger for the Flyers, is playing center for the KHL’s HC Donbass Donetsk. He’s yet to register a point in four games, but scored a shootout goal against Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod in his debut with Donbass.
