Flyers sign 3, but Parise, Suter on hold

The Flyers signed three players on Tuesday, but they weren’t the marquee names that are on the free-agent market.
Instead, they were minor leaguers.
The three players - forward Mike Testwuide, and defensemen Danny Syvret and Cullen Eddy -figure to play with the Flyers’ AHL farm team, the Adirondack Phantoms, this season.
Meanwhile, in Day 3 of free-agency, left winger Zach Parise and defenseman Ryan Suter still have not signed. Both stars have hefty offers from the Flyers, among many other suitors.
Parise told the Minneapolis Star Tribune there was no timetable for his decision, which, he said, was about “so much more than the money. That plays a very small part in it.”
He also labeled the process as “stressful” - some took that to mean he was feeling bad about possibly leaving New Jersey - and that it was “much harder” than he had anticipated.
Testwuide, 25, a Colorado native, has recorded 30 goals and 38 assists in 142 games with the Phantoms over the last two seasons.
Eddy, 23, split the last two seasons with the Phantoms and the Flyers’ ECHL affiliate, Greenville. In 54 games with the Phantoms last season, he had two goals, 13 assists and 130 penalty minutes.
Syvret, 27, returns for his third tour with the Flyers’ organization. Last season, he had seven goals and 35 assists for Peoria, the St. Louis Blues’ AHL affiliate.
In 27 career games with the Flyers, Syvret had two goals, including his first career tally in the 2010 Winter Classic in Boston.
Jagr to Dallas. Free-agent right winger Jaromir Jagr, who had 19 goals and 54 points with the Flyers last season, is headed to Dallas, according to ESPN. He reportedly will get a one-year deal for $4.5 million. (He made $3.3 million last season.)
Suddenly, Anaheim's Bobby Ryan, who is on the trade market, seems like an absolute bargain with an annual cap hit of $5.1 million.
The Flyers will miss Jagr's production, size, puck possession and leadership. His work ethic was unmatched _ and should be a lesson to those who were his teammates last season.
Trial on the Isle. Flyers prospects will participate in the annual “Trial on the Isle” competition, followed by a charity softball tournament, on July 11 in Stone Harbor. All proceeds will benefit Flyers Charities, with a donation going to American Legion Post #31.
The day will begin with a 9 a.m. swim in the ocean, followed by a run starting at the 96th Street beach to 123rd Street. The prospects will then participate in team-building activities led by members of the military as they make their way back to the 96th Street beach.
At noon, Flyers prospects will host a clinic in the Stone Harbor Elementary School parking lot, and another clinic will be held at 3 p.m. at the 80th street blacktop.
The prospects will be available to sign autographs at the school from 1:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. The admission fee is a $10 donation to Flyers Charities. Fans will receive a team photo of the prospects.
The prospects will play a charity softball game at 4 p.m. at the 80th Street field. At 5:30, a barbeque will be held at the Stone Harbor Yacht Club. Fans can make a reservation to have dinner with the prospects by calling 609-368-1201.

Take the first one that signs and pull the offer to the other since it really looks like Philly is neither of their third choices. But as noted above, It's All about the Money money money, Cha Ching, cha Ching, ba bling, ba bling. Get the second tier guys with the left over money. Or try to get Weber, a nasty physical defenseman makes the Flyers far more imposing than another scoring forward (see Pronger healthy and how it ='d playoff success)— rhcjr2- If Suter and Parise doesn't pan out, the Flyers will simply overpay for Ryan. - If the Flyers can't get Parise or Suter, it won't be for lack of trying. Figure one of them will end up in Detroit. Jacking up the price almost ensures both players can't play on the same team. Same time, regardless of which team(s) sign either of them, the jacked up price reduces future financial flexibility.
Flyers need to resign who they can and focus on developing youthful talent. I don't think they'll be as good as last year, but still a good team.— pillsbury - EFF these two clowns and move on. Maybe Jagr left because he didn't want to do the "Trial on the Isle" in 90 degree heat.— icarus- I know it's crazy, but I wish these teams would pull their offers off the table, and see how large a part of the decision money becomes. This is ridiculous, teams should just sign the next tier players and let the two over-hyped $100 million wannabes see what's left over. - I do like the gamesmanship going on and I think Parise's/Suter's relucatance to sign means that the Flyers made the proverbial "offer they couldn't refuse." If they sign, we've improved the team with defense and a strong two-way leader. If they don't, like defiore said, we drive the asking price way up and other teams suffer.

- Parise is simply not worth that money and that length contract...would be BRYZ 2 mistake...a good player but far from elite ...Flyers better hope he doesnt take their offer...Suter on the other hand would be an excellent addition and we need a couple of solid D men...lets see what happens but all is for nothing if we have to live with BRYZ in net...he will be worse then last year being under more pressure..Flyers only hope is he goes psycho and decides to return to Russia— flyers1000

- The Flyers and Paul Holmgren brilliance: Give out TWO gigantic offers to Parise and Suter. The players in the NHL want them to take the highest possible offers because it sets the future salary and contract bar very high going forward. The teams competing financially with the Flyers are either going to 1) out bid the Flyers and sign either player ~ and leaving little cap room for themselves or 2) will back off on the bidding for either or both Parise or Suter. Parise and Suter are in tough spots to turn the Flyers down. If either takes less money to stay with their current teams ~ Suter looks like a fool (Nashville could be breaking up their nucleus soon). Parise looks good (Loyalty to his team and mates). But both will be taking MUCH less money to stay home. They can't work together to go to the same team because then we have collusion. If Parise and Suter go to lower paying teams, then other NHL players will be ticked off at them for taking less money/lowering the salary bar, and the other players may retaliate with horrid checks and fights. In the end, the Flyers look like big spending, wheeler dealers so that even if they lose Parise and/or Suter, the Flyer fans know the ownership did everything to get them. - He can got to Pittsburgh where he will form the dynamic duo with Malkin. Crosby is game to game with his concussion syndrome and I don't think can be counted on to be a main cog with the question of his health hanging over his soft-head.
