Flyers defenseman Kimmo Timonen leaves game with lower-body injury
Flyers defenseman Kimmo Timonen left Tuesday's game against the Detroit Red Wings after the second period due to a lower-body injury, according to general manager Paul Holmgren.
Timonen, 38, earned an assist on Scott Hartnell's goal that opened the scoring in the first period. Timonen recorded 7:20 in ice time over 17 shifts before leaving the game. He also blocked two shots, was given credit for two hits and took a two-minute penalty for interference in the first period.
Including Tuesday's game, Timonen notched 19 points on two goals and 17 assists while appearing in all 54 games for the Flyers.
The Flyers beat the Red Wings, 5-0.
