Nolan Patrick and Morgan Frost, each selected by the Flyers in the first round of the NHL draft in June, will center lines Wednesday night against the New York Islanders in a rookie game at the Wells Fargo Center.

Patrick was the No. 2 overall pick, and Frost was taken 27th overall after the Flyers acquired that selection as part of a deal that sent Brayden Schenn to St. Louis.

“It’ll be pretty crazy,” Frost, a slick playmaker, said about playing before the biggest crowd of his young career. “I’m definitely excited about it.”

Frost had 62 points, including 20 goals, in 67 Ontario Hockey League games last season.

A lot of the focus will be on Patrick (No. 64), who said he has completely recovered from abdominal surgery in June. Patrick, who will turn 19 on Tuesday, said his injury was “the last thing on my mind. I feel good. I’m just going to play my game, have fun, and hopefully we get a win.”

The game will be live-streamed on the Flyers website at 7 p.m.

Forward John Stevens, whose father of the same name used to coach the Flyers and now directs the Los Angeles Kings; South Jersey’s Matt Gaudreau (forward); and goalie Eamon McAdam (Doylestown) are among the rookies on the Islanders roster. Gaudreau’s brother, Johnny, is a star with Calgary.

The Flyers will use the following lineup for the game:

  • Patrick centering Connor Bunnaman and Maksim Sushko.
  • Frost centering Isaac Ratcliffe and Matt Strome; all three are draft picks from June.
  • German Rubtsov centering Oskar Lindblom and Pascal Laberge.
  • Mikhail Vorobyov centering Carsen Twarynski and Ivan Kosorenkov.
  • Defensive pairings: Phil Myers and Travis Sanheim, Sam Morin and Mark Friedman, Frank Hora and James DeHaas.
  • Extra: Anthony Salinitri.
  • Goalies: Alex Lyon and Carter Hart. Lyon will likely get the start.

The top power-play unit is expected to comprise Patrick, Laberge, Lindblom, Vorobyov, and Sanheim.
