Eagles injury updates: QB Nick Foles, OL Brandon Brooks return to practice; DT Fletcher Cox still out

Eagle quarterback Nick Foles signs autographs for Pop Warner football players after practice.

Eagles quarterback Nick Foles, offensive lineman Brandon Brooks and running back Wendell Smallwood returned to practice Monday.

Defensive tackle Fletcher Cox remained out with back spasms.

Foles, who has been out for most of training camp, is slowly returning from elbow soreness. He is not expected to play Thursday night in the preseason home opener against the Buffalo Bills.

Brooks missed nearly a week with an ankle injury and sat out the preseason opener. Smallwood was also out that long.

Cox was absent for his second consecutive practice. The Eagles also continued to miss Halapouilivaati Vaitai (knee), cornerback Ron Brooks (hamstring), offensive lineman Josh Andrews (hand), tight end Anthony Dunham (calf), and wide receiver Paul Turner (shoulder).

The Eagles had one of their longest practices of the summer, going 2 1/2 hours at the team facility.
