History lesson: The Giants lead the series, 83-80-2, but the Eagles have won six of the last seven. The Birds have scored an average of 28 points in those seven games. The current run began with a 27-0 win in 2014 in one of Nick Foles' final starts in his first tenure with the Eagles.

Referee: Brad Allen. While most officials gain seasoning at other positions (side judge, back judge, etc.), Allen was made a referee immediately when he joined the NFL in 2014. The Eagles are 2-1 in games that Allen has reffed, including the season-opening win at Washington. The clinching play was the late touchdown Fletcher Cox scored off a fumble by Washington quarterback Kirk Cousins. The Redskins contended that Cousins' arm was coming forward and that Allen should have ruled the play an incomplete pass. The Giants are 1-2 in Allen games, including that riveting 12-9 win over Kansas City in Week 11.

Playoff scenarios: An Eagles win would secure a first-round bye. An Eagles win and a loss by Minnesota (10-3) would give the Eagles home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs. The Vikings will host Cincinnati (5-8), also at 1 o'clock on Sunday.

What's next: The Eagles will host the Raiders on Christmas night in Week 16. Oakland (6-7) will play Dallas on Sunday night.

Did you know? Last year, the Giants were second in the NFL in points scored. This season, with injuries to star wide receiver Odell Beckham and all through the offensive line, the Giants are 27th.
