Well, that happened. The NFL preseason game that least resembles a preseason game. The August holy-of-holies: the almighty dress rehearsal.

That is, the third exhibition game of the interminable summer, the one where the starters are supposed to play the longest and the conclusions to which we jump are supposed to be the biggest. We'll leave the conclusions to you after the Eagles' 38-31 win over the Miami Dolphins at Lincoln Financial Field. But as for the starters, they didn't last 20 minutes. Uber-paranoid about injuries, apparently, Eagles coach Doug Pederson had seen enough by early in the second quarter from his No. 1's, on both side of the ball.

Meanwhile, the whole thing was as wild as the score indicated. Torrey Smith and Alshon Jeffery caught touchdown passes from Carson Wentz, Mychal Kendricks had another big play, Ronald Darby had a couple of poor plays on deep balls, and here's the wrap-up:
