You want weapons? Andy Reid gave the offense weapons on the first day of the draft, adding Pitt running back LeSean McCoy in the second round after taking wide receiver Jeremy Maclin from Missouri in the first round.

McCoy is a 5-foot-11, 210-pound Brian Westbrook clone from Harrisburg who gives the Eagles more depth and versatility. He isn't described as a power rusher, but one who can burst outside and catch the ball well out of the backfield.

Put McCoy together with Westbrook, Maclin and DeSean Jackson and you can expect the Eagles to jump fully into the "Wildcat" trend of quick-hitting offense, with quick, multiple-position skill players capable of game-breaking plays. McCoy took snaps from center often for Panthers.

McCoy has been compared to former Pitt star Tony Dorsett, who said of him, "This is the first player who has come along who truly reminds me of me."

McCoy, the brother of former NFL receiver LeRon McCoy, is, like Maclin, only 20 years old. He turns 21 in July.

Great, great pick, especially in the second round.....nice size, speed, hits the hole hard, can catch and block....if you ever wanted to groom an eventual replacement for Westbrook, this is the guy....good job, Birdz, keep it up

Bob, This is a great first day for the Birds. If you would have offered Reid and Heckert this before the draft, they would have jumped all over it and not turned back!

Not bad at 53, too bad the Maclin pick, and the wildcat offense, will be obsolete soon into next year. We were better off trading for someone or grabbing Pettigrew.

From Pete Prisco CBS Sports: Analysis: Once again, the Eagles nailed it. This kid has talent. He had bad workouts, but he can run. This is a heck of a pick.

All you losers who complain about Reid can shut up now! Great draft for Eagles! Now you can stop your crying! That includes you, Bob Ford.

This is a great draft so far. I would like the Eagles to package some of the 5th round picks for Cook from SC. That would be the end for the NFC East, these 3 together. Tomoli..a SMALL back? He is 5' 11" 210 pounds. Westbrook must be a midget at 5' 10" 203. Better know what your talking about before your lips move

Glad to see Andy Reid put his jelly donut down long enough to see help was need at running back. McCoy is 6 feet, 200 pounds and we need him !

Tomoli - I agree that while McCoy isn't a big back, I think he fits nicely into this offense. This may be a good thing because now we don't have to change the entire offense around if B West goes down since we have "his clone." Plus, I think the addition of Leanord Weaver (yeah remember him?) will fill our power runner void.

For as much as the writers complain about the press conferences, the most painful thing is listening to the questions that are asked of the coaches and players. No wonder nobody likes talking to the local media. So many of the questions are completely pointless. McCoy takes time out of what must be a very busy day to talk to the Philly media and half of the brief interview was wasted with smartass comments by the media about Ricky Waters. Come on...that's bush league stuff. It's that kind of attitude that causes the coaches and players to be stand-offish with a lot of the local media.

Tomoli the Eagles needed an offensive line that could get a push. They got that. I don't care how big a back you have if your O-line doesn't get off the ball going forward he's not going anywhere. McCoy was a great pickup.

Not impressed one bit with the picks. Another 6 foot wideout who can't run a fade and a back smaller than Westbrook. Yahoo has him listed under 200lbs.
