Jordan Matthews' return to Philadelphia this week seems doubtful.

According to ESPN, Matthews suffered a chest injury in his first practice as a Bill since the Eagles traded the 2014 second-round pick and a third-round pick in the 2018 draft to Buffalo for cornerback Ronald Darby.

On Monday, ESPN reported that Matthews has a chip fracture in his sternum.

Matthews, who reportedly took mostly first- and second-team reps, finished the practice session, but left with trainers and was not made available to the media because of the injury. The seriousness of the injury is unknown.

Matthews sat out OTAs with knee tendinitis and dealt with an ankle injury late last season that caused him to miss two games.

The Bills will play the Eagles at the Linc on Thursday at 7 p.m.
