Eagles-Titans: NFL Week 4 key stats and matchups | Paul Domowitch

Wentz hits 50

— Carson Wentz threw his 50th touchdown pass against the Colts in his 30th start. Donovan McNabb had 44 after his 30th start. A look at the TD pass totals of other quarterbacks through their first 30 starts: Matthew Stafford (60), Aaron Rodgers (56), Peyton Manning (52), Russell Wilson (50), Tom Brady (46), Eli Manning (41), Philip Rivers (40), Matt Ryan (38), Ben Roethlisberger (37), Joe Flacco (33) and Drew Brees (31).

— Wentz completed 25 of 37 passes against the Colts. He was 5-for-7 on the Eagles' first touchdown drive and 8-for-8 on their game-winning TD drive in the fourth quarter. He was 12-for-22 on the nine possessions in between.

— Wentz has at least one touchdown pass in 16 straight games. He has two or more TD passes in 11 of those 16 games.

— The Eagles ran just 18 of 77 plays from under center against the Colts. Ten of those 18 were on the Eagles' game-winning 17-play drive.

— In their first three games, the Eagles have run just 44 of 216 plays (20.4 percent) from under center. They've run the ball on 28 of those 44 plays and averaged 5.1 yards per carry on run plays from under center. Last year, they ran 30.3 percent of their total plays from under center.

— None of the Eagles' seven touchdown drives in the first three games have been less than eight plays. Last year, 20 of 45 TD drives were six or fewer plays.

Third-down tough

— The Eagles are second in the league in third-down defense (27.0 percent). The only team that's been better is the Chiefs (25.8 percent).

— Last week, the Colts converted just two of 12 third-down opportunities against the Eagles. Andrew Luck was 4-for-11 for 10 yards and just one passing first down on third down.

— Opposing quarterbacks have a 100.7 passer rating against the Eagles on first down, 107.6 on second down, but only 53.9 on third down.

— The Bucs' Ryan Fitzpatrick had a 105.2 third-down passer rating against the Eagles. Luck and the Falcons' Matt Ryan had a combined 35.4 third-down passer rating.

— Luck had just two completions of 20 or more yards against the Eagles. Fourteen of his 25 completions gained six yards or less.

Fletch on fire

— Fletcher Cox, who had 5 ½ sacks last season, already has three in the first three games. He has had one sack in each game. It's just the second time in his career that he's had one or more sacks in three straight games. He's never had one or more in four straight games.

— Cox already has five tackles for losses. He had four all of last season.

— Jim Schwartz blitzed on just four of 43 pass plays last week. The Eagles held Luck to 4.1 yards per attempt, 4.5 when they rushed four.

— Luck was just 1-for-4 for 3 yards on the four plays in which the Eagles blitzed.

— The Eagles have blitzed on just 23 of pass 125 plays (18.4 percent) in the first three games. In the first three games last year, the Eagles blitzed on 24 of 123 pass plays (19.5 percent).

Focus on the tight ends

— Twenty-one of Carson Wentz's 37 attempts last week were targeted for the team's three tight ends. Zach Ertz was targeted 10 times, Dallas Goedert seven and Josh Perkins four.

— The Eagles used multiple-tight end sets on 57 of 77 plays last week. They ran it 28 times and threw it 29 times out of two- and three-tight end sets. Ertz and Goedert combined for 12 catches for 146 yards and one touchdown.

— Goedert played 55 snaps against the Colts. He had played just 17 in each of the first two games.

— Ertz has a team-high 21 receptions. Eleven have been with "12" personnel (1 RB, 2 TE), four with "13" (1 RB, 3 TE) and six with "11" (1 RB, 1 TE).

— Last year, the Eagles used "12" on 23.4 percent of their offensive plays and "13" on 7.9 percent. In the first three games, they've used "12" 34.7 percent and "13" 16.2 percent.

Stuffing the run

— Opponents have averaged an NFL-low 18.0 rush attempts against the Eagles. Their opponent Sunday, the Titans, have averaged 32.7 rushing attempts in their first three games, the most in the NFL. The Titans are first in run-play percentage (53.5). Last week, they rushed for 150 yards on 35 carries in their 9-6 win over Jacksonville.

— The Eagles are first in run defense (61.7 yards allowed per game) and sixth in yards allowed per carry (3.4). They've allowed just eight rushing first downs in the first three games, which is the fewest in the league.

— Opponents have just two runs of 10 yards or more in their last 52 carries against the Eagles.

— Thirty of their opponents' 54 rushing attempts have gained two yards or less.

— The Titans are only 25th in the league in rush average (3.7 yards per carry). Derrick Henry is averaging just 3.0 yards per game. Dion Lewis is averaging 3.7.

Red-zone defense

— The Eagles are tied for third in red-zone defense (33.3 percent) They've given up just four touchdowns in 12 red-zone challenges. The Titans defense is tied for first with Jacksonville. They've given up just one red-zone TD in six opportunities.

— The Eagles' 12 opponent red-zone opportunities are tied for the second most in the league with the Vikings, Patriots, Packers, Steelers and 49ers. Arizona, which is 0-3, has the most with 13.

— Opposing quarterbacks have completed just nine of 24 passes against the Eagles in the red zone. They have three TDs, one interception and two sacks.

This and that

— The Eagles' average drive start in their first three games has been the 23.3-yard line. Their opponents' has been the 32.6. That's a 9.3 difference in average drive start.

— The Eagles have been outscored in the first quarter, 17-7. Last year through three games, they had outscored opponents 10-3 in the first quarter. For the season, they outscored teams 106-48 for a league-high plus-58 point differential.

— Opponents have averaged 6.7 yards per play on their first two possessions of games against the Eagles. The Eagles have averaged just 3.8 yards per play.
