What I saw: Patterson suffers seizure
Sheil Kapadia, Philly.com
UPDATE: Eagles head athletic trainer Rick Burkholder said Mike Patterson suffered a seizure, but is alert and stable.
From earlier: Here's what I saw as the scary scene unfolded Wednesday morning at Lehigh.
At just about 9:30, the Eagles split into two groups.
The skill position players on offense, the linebackers and the defensive backs stayed behind for 7-on-7s.
The offensive and defensive linemen moved to the north side of the field with their respective coaches, Howard Mudd and Jim Washburn. The drill has been one of the more entertaining ones so far in camp, as the team's biggest players battle one-on-one with Mudd and Washburn offering colorful feedback.
But by the time I had followed the linemen to the north end zone, Patterson was on his back, convulsing.
Andy Reid and head trainer Rick Burkholder were nearby. Trent Cole was visibly upset. Several players took knees around Patterson, who was in the middle.
At about 9:39, a cart came over. The entire offensive and defensive lines stood up and gathered around Patterson.
At 9:45, cheers erupted from the crowd. The 7-on-7 drill was still going on, and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie had broken up a deep ball intended for wide receiver Chad Hall. The ball rolled about 15 yards away from the the eerie scene where the linemen gathered around Patterson.
Three minutes later, fans realized something was up and let out cheers for Patterson. His teammates still gathered around him. King Dunlap, the team's tallest player held a white towel over his head. At some point, Jason Avant made his way over.
The ambulance arrived, and at 9:51, the practice horn sounded, indicating it was time for players to shift to the next portion of practice. Cole continued to look very emotional as teammates Jason Peters and Juqua Parker consoled him.
A minute later, the ambulance doors shut, and Patterson was driven away.
The defensive linemen gathered and took a knee together as other players continued to practice.
Finally, at 10:02, Washburn continued practice with the linemen.
Check Birds' Eye View and Eagletarian for other details. According to Les Bowen of the Daily News, Patterson was being treated for dehydration.

Pickle juice! blueye7
Dehydration can cause a seizure? Philly Fan in Kuwait- Glad Pattersons okay. Hopefully he'll be back on the field when he's ready. paulNC
idiots saying pickle juice-----it was a joke for one year and people believe it-------------way too much salt----get it? steve19149
@Steve - actually, the salt in pickle juice is what makes it effective on hot days - the extra salt tells your body to retain more water. That's what the "electrolytes" in things like Gatorade essentially are - salts. JLB

Can you just imagine the celebratory reaction of those "classy" Eagles fans had this been a Giant, Cowboy or Redskin suffering this seizure?? True class ... IrishBrendan- do you feel better now? this had nothing to do with what anybody was talking about.
