What I saw: Eagles vs. Redskins

Here's what I saw during the Eagles' 34-10 win over the Redskins at the Linc:

OFFENSE

* Michael Vick finished 24-for-39 for 335 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. The truth is, his numbers could have been even better, but Vick missed several throws, and Jeremy Maclin dropped a ball in the end zone in the first.

* Maclin was Vick's most popular receiver. He caught eight balls for 105 yards on 13 targets. Maclin bobbled what could have been about a 60-yard touchdown in the fourth. He came down with the catch though with a second effort for a 29-yard gain. Brent Celek had six catches for 86 yards and a touchdown.

* With 12:01 left in the fourth quarter, DeSean Jackson made the kind of play that was much more common in previous seasons, catching up to a throw from Vick for a 62-yard touchdown. He finished with four catches for 86 yards in what might have been his last game as an Eagle.

* Brian Orakpo went right around Todd Herremans to sack Vick on third down on the Eagles' first possession. Herremans was also whistled for holding on a run play in the second. At the end of the first half, Vick backed into another Orakpo sack and fumbled, giving the Redskins' offense possession in the red zone.

* About 35 minutes before kickoff, Howard Mudd and Jim Washburn shared a hug before the offensive and defensive linemen began warming up against each other. Have to wonder if this was the last time they'll coach together as part of the same staff. Update: Jeff McLane of the Inquirer reports over on Birds' Eye View that Mudd will return next season.

* Jason Avant hauled in a 16-yard grab in the third, and the Eagles benefited from a 15-yard late hit penalty on the Redskins. Avant finished with four catches for 42 yards.

* Without LeSean McCoy, the Eagles didn't get much going on the ground. Until late in the fourth quarter, that is. Ronnie Brown had six carries for 14 yards. Dion Lewis had 12 carries for 58 yards, including a 9-yard score.

* Brian Westbrook was in attendance and got a nice ovation from the scattered crowd at the Linc in the second. Westbrook's brother plays for the Redskins. The Flyers' Scott Hartnell also was in attendance.

* Nice block by Jason Kelce on a 10-yard tight end screen to Celek in the second.

* Chad Hall found the end zone from 7 yards out in the second. Horrible job of tackling by the Redskins on the play. After he scored, Hall made a Lambeau-type leap into the stands.

DEFENSE

* The Eagles allowed Roy Helu to score on a 47-yard screen in the third. Nate Allen had a shot to get to Helu, but was blocked. And Joselio Hanson slipped to the ground.

* The Eagles did a pretty good job of pressuring Rex Grossman throughout the day, even though they only had one sack (by Trent Cole).

* Trevor Laws started for Mike Patterson and stopped a Redskins run after a gain of 1 in the first. Overall, though, the Redskins had 130 yards on the ground and averaged 5.2 yards per carry.

* Jamar Chaney stuffed a run for no gain in the first, but then was slow to get up and never returned. Andy Reid said later that Chaney had a concussion. Casey Matthews stepped in to replace him at middle linebacker. Keenan Clayton was the lone linebacker on the field in dime.

* It looked like Santana Moss beat Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie deep in the first, but Grossman's throw took awhile to get there, and Rodgers-Cromartie broke it up. In the second, Rodgers-Cromartie broke up another deep pass, and the ball popped up in the air. Allen came away with the interception. It looked like Darryl Tapp got to Grossman on the play.

* Evan Royster had a 28-yard run in the second where he made the entire Eagles defense looked silly.

* Derek Landri dropped Helu for a 3-yard loss in the second. Landri also blocked a field goal in the second.

* Jaiquawn Jarrett nearly had an interception in the third, but Trevor Laws was called for roughing the passer on the play. The INT was ruled incomplete, and there was no point to Reid challenging it because of the penalty.

* Horrible penalty by Moss at the end of the first half. He thought Hanson should have been called for pass interference and took off his helmet when arguing with the officials, drawing a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. The Redskins moved from the Eagles' 5 to the Eagles' 19. Then the Redskins ran a play to the middle of the field, despite not having any timeouts. They were unable to get the field-goal unit on to the field in time and ended up with no points.
