Vince Young likely to start vs. Seahawks

Looks like a third consecutive start for Vince Young at quarterback for the Eagles when they travel to Seattle on Thursday night.

Looks like a third consecutive start for Vince Young at quarterback for the Eagles when they travel to Seattle on Thursday night.

Michael Vick will not practice today, although he will throw on the side and is making progress, coach Andy Reid said today.

Vick "can't put heavy torque on the ball without feeling some pain," Reid said, adding that Vick won't practice until that issue is resolved.

"We'll take it day-by-day," Reid said.

Young will continue to take snaps with the firs team.

"It's pretty much the same each week; even from Week 1, Week 2, you know it's just preparation, you never know what goes on and you always have to be prepared," Young said. "So it's really nothing too different about it; the only thing is when the head coach tells you you have to start. So overall you just want to stay in the book and stay ready."

Asked about the hardest part of the short turnaround, Young said, "Game planning [and] just making sure that you know everything that's going on. I know we crammed everything in today but you just have to get a little extra study time in and I feel like everybody should be OK."

Nnamdi Asomugha and LeSean McCoy will be limited in practice today. McCoy was added to the injury report Monday with a toe sprain.

King Dunlap (concussion), Moise Fokou (knee) and Jeremy Maclin (hamstring, shoulder) will not practice. Reid said it was more the hamstring injury than the shoulder that was holding back Maclin. He said they need to get the tightness in the hamstring out.

Reid said the spat on the sideline between Jim Washburn and Marty Mornhinweg has been worked out. "They're fine," Reid said, adding that "things happen."

Reid said he has spoken with the two coaches and they have talked to each other.

Reid declined to divulge what led to the verbal dispute, in which the two men had to be separated. He said such occurrences are part of the intense gameday atmosphere.

DeSean Jackson will start this week after he was benched in the second half against the Patriots. Reid said DeSean needs to move forward off the last game and have a good game this week.

Jackson spoke to reporters yesterday. Here is what he said.

Reid said Nate Allen will start at safety and he does not believe Allen is being hampered by his knee injury.

Today is the Eagles' only real practice before the Seattle game. Preparation will be more mental than physical, with the extremely short week so late in the season. Reid said one objective is to use stuff from the previous week's gameplan that you practiced but didn't employ. (The running plays should be available, right?)
