time to pay jackson? he is getting paid...600k this year plus incentives....thats much much much better then most people, especially in the economy. these athletes are over-paid spoiled criminal brats who cry and complain and hold out every chance they get. the worst possible idols our kids could have. reality is so far lost in professional sports (and college football and basketball too for that matter).

Get a clue of what's going on, this is his job and he deserves more money. If you don't like him or any other sports figure then don't watch them work plain and simple, SIMPLE.......

I get so tired of people like you using this same unthoughtful argument. Desean has chosen and excelled in a career choice that pays a whole lot more on average than most people. Jackson and every other player just want to be paid in line with what people of his abilty and results make in his profession. And, he's not crying or holding out. He's actually being the bigger man by playing which put his future earnings in possible jeopardy.

Psualum.. shut up. He has a skill set that few people possess in an industry that affords those talents considerable amounts of money. If you could do, which I assume you cannot, you too would think you were woefully underpaid if you put up similar output to your peers to make 3 & 4 times as money. Another thing: if you don't like sports and the systems in which they exist, they don't write in a comment section of a sports article/video. Hopefully, I knocked you off your soapbox genius.

How is Desean or athletes in general the worst possible idols our kids could have? You would prefer your son to take whatever unfair deal his boss gives him and shut up and be happy about it? Whatever career he ends up choosing, I want my son to be the best and most successful at it. And if he's not happy or is well underpaid, I want him to speak up for himself and get everything he deserves. Why would you wish for your kids to be vastly underpaid at their profession?

I love watching Jackson as much as anyone else. He is dynamic and talented athlete who is taking the high road during this salary thing. I just wish he would not be so cocky and sometimes he taunts the defenses against him. He had 3 concussions last season right? So...how marketable is he. Many would say he's damaged goods. He is small...one more heavy hit could break him...or another possibly career ending concussion...so what to do?

Right. You can't compare Desean Jackson to most people; he is a phenomenal talent who tens of millions of people enjoy watching. The market dictates what people earn. Actors can get $ 50 million for a picture and their careers can last for three or more decades. Desean's career might last more than a decade, or it could end Sunday night with a career-ending injury. We sure hope not, and it is unlikely, but it is possible.

Based on what other professional football players are paid, he is worth 8 to 10 times what he is being paid. Hopefully his agent will be reasonable and get this done, with a fair amount of guaranteed money. If he doesn't get it done and doesn't have insurance to protect Desean from a catastrophic injury, then he is putting his client at risk every week he takes the field. This deal should get done now.

99% of the time I am with the ones that say you signed the contract...honor it. In Jacksons case ...it is his last year and he has way out played his contract 10xs over. I also respect how he is handling things. Pay him..do not make him return kicks unless it is a playoff game or Super Bowl. This is completely different then the T.O. situation...and he deserves it much more then Lance Briggs, and C. Johnson.

They do. 65k people pay to see psualum every year and he responds: "Do you want to super-size that?"

The Eagles have no problem giving him a raise to make him happy. But Jackson wants to get overpaid. He wants to get paid top shelf #1 money. Like Santonio Holmes, 5 yrs, 50 million, with over 20 mil guaranteed. That is where the Eagles differ with Rosenhaus and Jackson. Jackson has his game built around incredible speed and quickness. However, that is not a long term skill. That skill does not last too long. Therefore, Jackson is not a true #1. He doesn't have the hands or size to be a true #1. He is not a red zone threat. The dropped bomb he missed down the left sideline. That is not uncommon for Jackson, and #1's should make that catch. Jackson needs to lower his contract demands to Miles Austin range, and a deal will get done. The Eagles will tell you they want to pay DeSean, just not as much as he and his delusional demanding agent wants.

Thank you to Jeff McLane for noting that it just might be DeSean's agent, rather than the Eagles' front office, who is holding this up. Despite what GVF might hope, his agent is Drew Rosenhaus, who is never reasonable. He views DeSean as a winning lottery ticket. If he can con the Eagles into overpaying now, that's great. If DeSean is franchised next year, that's a big one-year payout, followed by a ridiculous overpayment from some sub-par team the next year. There is no way that Rosenhaus would let DeSean accept a multi-year "market value" contract now. He is just waiting to break the bank.

Does Jackson deserve a new contract...yes! Does he deserve the money he wants...no! He is an exciting player who's one or two catches a game will be on sportscenter. Why is there no outcry in the media to get Peyton Hillis a new contract??? He is getting paid the same thing as DJackson and he is 75% of his team's offense.
